The Difference

What is the difference

between being happy and being sad ?

A mere curve of the lips,

or a wish that could not be had ?

Does a kind word separate them,

or a beating heart ?

Could it be love,

or the mere mention of a treacle tart ?

I’m not sure why I think this, but your lovely poem belongs on the inside of a box of luxury chocolates! Thanks for the smile! :-)

Bellezza- The photo is a bit dark but we weren’t allowed to use a flash isnide the museum. Anyway, you still get the idea. I do think it’s a good story to introduce kids to death and sorrow. Literary Feline- I do think the true story is just as worthwhile and her story touched many people in Japan before it ever got told (and embellished) in other languages. Oh well.
